Hemolytic anemia

Hemolytic anemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells. The red blood cells provide oxygen to all the tissues in the body. Hemolytic anemia is a very complicated disease, where the red blood cells of the blood are destroyed much earlier than their usual life-span. Normally the life span of red blood cells is approximately 120 days after which the body gets rid of them. In hemolytic anemia, the red blood cells in the blood are destroyed earlier than the required time leading to a decrease of red blood cells in the body. There are two main types of hemolytic anemia: intrinsic hemolytic anemia and extrinsic hemolytic anemia.
