Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix, a small, finger-like structure attached to the large intestine in the lower right side of the abdomen. However it can lead to dangerous and even life threatening condition if its inflammation is left untreated. Appendicitis can affect anyone, but it often occurs in people between the ages of 10 to 30 years. The appendix contains specialized tissue that can produce antibodies, but no one is absolutely certain what its function is. One thing we do know: We can live without it, without apparent consequences.


Appendicitis results when the appendix becomes infected, inflamed, or blocked such as a hard piece of stool, foreign matter, cancer, or an abscess. Appendicitis can also develop after an infection in the digestive tract that leads to swelling of lymph nodes, which squeeze the appendix causing obstruction or inflammation. In rare cases, traumatic injury to the abdomen and genetic factors also cause appendicitis.

A glass of flax seeds tea strained and flavored with a little lemon juice to be given occasionally. This would prove effective to cure appendicitis naturally.

8.Gotu Kola

Gotu Kola is an herb that is used widely to treat appendicitis and this is the Chinese herbal treatment for appendicitis. This herb helps the connective tissue repair itself faster and is useful for healing wounds. Taking 60 drops of tincture 3 to 4 times per day is the usual dose.However, those suffering from hypertension should avoid this herbal medicine.


Dandelion with its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities is quite effective in treating appendicitis. It helps you heal from the infection and surgery. In case the patient also suffers from diabetes or any other type of kidney disorder, take blood thinners or are allergic to this herb, must not be consumed for any reason.


The herb agrimony is quite effective in the treatment of appendicitis. It must be consumed in the form of tea at regular intervals of two to three hours. Do not take agrimony if you have diabetes or high blood pressure or take blood thinning medication.


Ginseng herb has antioxidant as well as anti-inflammatory effects. It acts as a powerful immune-stimulant and increases energy, aiding post-surgery recovery. Drink a cup of ginseng tea twice daily, as it helps in curing the pain and inflammation of the appendix. Do not use ginseng in the presence of fever.

12.Stinging nettle

Taking nettle tea three times a day will help heal the surgical wound in the tissues and also acts as a general tonic to support the body in curing appendicitis.


The usual dosage one tablespoon of borage juice taken every day is very helpful in treating the fever caused by appendicitis.

14.Slippery elm

It is a laxative and promotes healing of body tissues. The inner bark of the tree is used in the herbal treatments. Take the tablets or powder three times per day for up to 12 weeks to treat ulceration, irritation, soreness and swelling of the appendix. It neutralizes the acid in the stomach and encourages the intestinal good bacteria. It alleviates vomiting and nausea and relieves any inflammation in the body.


Echinacea this herb will help eliminate the toxins from surgical anesthesia. Take 2 to 3 doses per day to prevent infection of the surgical wound and to stimulate the immune system. This can be combined with goldenseal for an additional punch.


Taking astragalus thrice a day helps to stimulate the immune system. Do not take astragalus if fever is present.

17.Aloe Vera

Avoid the existence of constipation, as it may lead to further inflammation of the appendix. Thus, take all measures to avoid constipation in the body as possible. Aloe Vera is highly beneficial for cleansing the colon.

18.Castor oil

Apply hot and cold fomentations to the appendix area and the full length of the spine. Alternating hot and cold castor oil fomentations help bring tremendous relief.

19.Almond oil

Soak a clean towel in hot water and apply a hot compress to the painful area several times a day to relieve cramping and inflammation. Massage almond oil over the painful area after removing the compress. Almond oil is used by massage therapist and by aroma therapists to relieve pain to help calm the body.
