Dry skin is a common skin problem of cold weather but people may also face this problem even during hot weather. The outer layer of your skin works like a self-oiled machine, but sometimes oil production can't keep up with demand and result into dull, dry, cracked and flaky skin. Excessive hot water bath, use of skin drying harsh soaps, frequent hand washing, dehydration and lack of moisture are some common causes for dry skin. A person having severe dry skin also suffers from dry and cracked skin patches, which really looks very odd and ugly. However, you can treat the problem of dry skin and get rid of itchy, rough and dull skin simply by following some given natural remedies.

How To Cure Dry, Cracked And Itchy Skin


1. Almond Oil, Lukewarm Milk

A glass of lukewarm milk mixed with one teaspoon almond oil, before bedtime, can work wonders to cure the problem of dry skin. In case of severe dryness instead of one teaspoon drink 1 tablespoon of almond oil along with 1 glass of lukewarm milk.

2. Olive oil massage

Olive oil massage really helps to treat dry and itchy skin. Regular massage will show you excellent result within few days.

3. Banana, Honey

Banana and honey mask is also considered very effective to treat dry skin. Mash banana and add few drops of honey in it. Mix well and spread on your dry skin. Massage it for 5-10 minutes and leave it on for few minutes until completely dry out.Finally rinse off with fresh water.

4. Milk Bath

Milk bath has been shown wonderful results in curing the problem of dry skin. The lactic acid in milk exfoliates dead skin cells and may also increase skin’s ability to hold in moisture. Instead of milk bath you can simply soak a washcloth in cold milk. Apply the cloth on any area of skin that is particularly dry or irritated. Leave the cloth there for five minutes and then gently rinse off with fresh water.

5. Aloe vera gel

Aloe Vera gel also helps a lot to heal the problem of dry and itchy skin. To obtain the natural gel, cut off a leaf at the base and split it open with a knife. Scrape out the gel with a spoon and gently apply all over the dry skin. Leave at least for 10 minutes and then rinse off.

6. Yogurt

Application of yogurt on dry skin areas is one of the greatest home remedies for the dry skin. Regular application will show you excellent results within few days.

7. Malai or Milk Cream

Malai or Milk cream also helps to cure dry and itchy skin. To enhance the effect of malai or milk cream you can add some turmeric and olive oil. Take one teaspoon of malai or milk cream, a pinch of turmeric and half teaspoon of olive oil. Spread the paste on your dry skin and leave it to dry. Wash after 15 minutes.

8. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is also considered very effective to treat dry itchy skin. If you have a small patch of dry, itchy skin, dot vinegar on the spot with a cotton ball. If you have dry skin all over your body parts then add two or three cups of vinegar to your bath water and soak your body for 15 to 30 minutes.

9. Glycerine, Rose Water

A mixture of glycerine and Rose water is very effective in curing the problem of dry itchy skin. Apply this mixture on your clean skin for 15-20 minutes and then rinse off with fresh water.

10. Plenty of Water

Drink lots of water. It helps to keep your body hydrated and can alleviate dry skin to a great extent. Try to drink 10-12 glasses of water on daily basis.
