NATURAL HOME REMEDIES FOR TONSILS

What are Tonsils?

Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils. Your tonsils are a pair of small almond-shaped organs (fleshy bits of tissue) located on each side of your throat, behind and above the tongue. Tonsillitis may be caused by a bacterial or a viral infection. Viruses that cause a cold or the flu may cause viral tonsillitis in children. A virus that causes mononucleosis (mono) may also lead to tonsillitis. Tonsillitis is very common, especially in children and more so in the colder months. It is highly contagious, which means it spreads easily from child to child by contact with throat or nasal fluids. So coughing, sneezing, used tissues, shared drinks and kissing will all pass on the germs and the infection.
